Audrey Gets Assistance During a Difficult Time
“Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles” – Alex Carras.
Kelly Chomse contacted Hot Cares to assist Audrey.
Audrey is a single mom with a mentally and physically challenged adult son who lives in Nooitgedacht.
Following her retrenchment, Audrey and her family endured some difficult months while Audrey was without a job; but she’s recently found work in the yard at Honeydew Build-it.
Audrey also relied heavily on her daughter who worked half days to bring in some much-needed income for the family as a primary breadwinner of the household; but also to be home with her brother, whose condition requires supervision.
On 3 July, Audrey’s daughter was killed when she was shot through her arm and stomach in an armed robbery. She managed to lock her brother in the bathroom, so he was not hurt in the incident. The perpetrators broke in and stole two cellphones as there was nothing else to take.
The family have struggled financially for a very long time and barely have any food in their house, let alone light bulbs to light the outside their home for security considerations.
In the midst of this devastating loss, the memorial has taken a while to arrange due to financial problems, but a little service has now been arranged for Sunday, thanks to Kelly and the generous help of the community.
Hot Cares is assisting in the printing of service booklets for Sunday; as well as a clothing voucher to ensure Audrey and her son don’t have to worry about what to wear on Sunday.
Hot Cares will also purchase them a washing machine as the disabled son does their washing daily by hand. To ease the day to day burdens, we will also be providing groceries, toiletries and airtime for the next few months.
A total value of R20 000 will go towards assisting Audrey and her son in this difficult time.
