Gladys Gets Assistance
“The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in man’s determination.” – Tommy Lasorda.
Bruce Rayne contacted Hot Cares to assist his former colleague Gladys. Bruce and Gladys worked in the Events industry, but times got tough, and the company closed down. That was in late 2011, and Gladys has still not managed to find work.
Bruce recently got in touch with her and to his surprise found out that she had saved all of the money that he had given her and opened up a small business.
She took the money that he had given her and bought school clothes for the children in the township and decided to sell it to the families there. What little she makes is supplemented by a small amount in the form of a government grant.
Even with her entrepreneurial efforts, the money doesn’t always come as easily as those people also struggle to pay her.
Gladys travels around a lot to sell her goods. Because she is mobile she needs a small tent to keep her stock under cover and dry, and she needs to be able to pack up and travel easily. She also needs a good phone.
Hot Cares understands the employment challenges in our country and was inspired that Gladys took it upon herself to try and earn a living.
Hot Cares will purchase a tent and groundsheet to protect Gladys’ stock from the weather and will also buy her a cell phone with a decent camera, so she can promote her business, all this for a total of R3 500.
