Westbury Soccer Club
“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” – Nelson Mandela.
Drugs are a huge problem in the areas of Westbury, Coronationville and the surrounding areas making young children in this community targets to the scourge of addiction.
In Westbury specifically, to offer a fun, healthy alternative, the West-bury Soccer Club started on Saturdays and Sundays to keep the children off the streets, busy and away from the drugs.
Approximately 56 soccer games are played on a Saturday which range from under 9s to under 19s. 6 x 90-minute games of super teams aged between 17 and 25 years old take place every Sunday.
Moreover, because the clubs are affiliated to SAFA under Jowest Local Football Association, they host league games in the Westbury area providing unique opportunities for young talented players to be spotted and to find a way out of the cycle of addiction and poverty.
Hot Cares was contacted because the Westbury soccer club is in desperate need of a new goal post.
We want to help the Westbury Soccer Club keep the children playing and not straying. Hot Cares will be purchasing soccer equipment to the value of R5000.
